There’s something about February that feels rather…freeing. January can be such a dark and cold time, but as the days are noticeably longer and brighter, maybe even a little bit warmer for some of you, February feels like the start of something new and profound. With that being said, welcome to Day1 of daily mindfulness reminders! February’s inspiration is Thich Nhat Hanh— Buddhist monk, peace activist, and spiritual leader. I hope you enjoy these little daily reminders as much as I enjoy writing them!

“We are more than our anger, we are more than our suffering.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Often times it’s common place to be consumed by the negative things that are happening in life. It’s hard to put those out of your mind to focus on all the positive beauty that encompasses us each day. It’s easy for anger to make its way into our lives. Sometimes, we don’t even realize it wiggling its way into our days. Then before we know it, anger, somehow, intentional or not, is part of everything we do. Over the last year or so I’ve been trying to identify when anger starts to rise. It’s important to not allow anger to be our leading emotion.
Moving forward today, lets lead with more positive emotions. When you feel anger rising, take a deep breath and remind yourself to slow down, instead of being reactive. Lets intentionally lead with compassion, empathy, and positivity. There cannot be happiness without suffering.
What happiness can you pull from your current suffering?
