To help us slow down, we could start thinking about our gratitude for each moment. Whenever a negative emotion arises, we can acknowledge it, and then focus further on our gratitude for the moment instead of what is bothering us.
For example: “I acknowledge that ‘XYZ’ is making me feel *negative emotion* but I am choosing to focus my energy on the fact that I am breathing and living and there is so much to be grateful for.”
