“Many people think excitement is happiness. But when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.”- Thich Nhat Hanh
Excitement is a fleeting feeling. As quickly as it comes, it goes. Excitement comes from material experiences while happiness is an emotion that comes only after we are at peace with ourselves. Working on securing happiness will require working on our inner peace. We should always be making decisions and choices that will ultimately lead us to the life we want to be living. Every day, our goal should be inner peace. Our focus should be in calming the passing emotions and releasing them. We’re all capable of happiness, but know the difference between actual happiness and excitement—
Peace.

It was not until I stopped working and had extra time on my side that I began to realize the meaning of true happiness and peace. Each morning when I allow myself to sit with my God and praise him for all the blessings in my life, read scripture, and pray, I feel like I can take on any challenge set before me. As you’ve said so many times, letting go and surrendering is the key, and I’ve finally figured it out!
Love that for you! I think that’s why so many people are struggling to find happiness. By design, no one has any time to sit with their feelings/beliefs to truly understand themselves. I’m so glad you were able to find that. 😘
