Hey Guys!
Here’s some honesty straight out of the gates. I have no idea what I’m doing here. I have no writing experience, no “influencer” experience, no tech experience, and no academic or professional qualifications. Okay, so what can I offer? At the very least, you can expect honesty out of my personal accounts and experiences. Something that is, in my opinion, hard to come across on the internet. The reason I left social media (finally) was due to the dishonest, disingenuous nature of it all. From the people just trying to sell me detox teas (remember those?!) to the oversharing and over-saturation of political posts and medical advice (Thanks, Covid). Somewhere along the way we stopped even posting our own opinions and just started sharing the opinions of other people we don’t personally know. Don’t even get me started on the way newsfeeds have become manipulated… Listen, if you use social media, there’s no judgment here. There are a lot of benefits to using social media for income, research, sharing art, keeping in touch, etc. It’s just my personal opinion that the cons out-weigh the pros.
Which brings me to my next point. This site is based on my own personal experiences and the opinions/thoughts/emotions stemming from those experiences. I can only speak to the experiences I have gone through. I can’t sit here and say I know how hard it is to be a working mother, a single mother, an artist, an engineer, a professional baseball player, you get the idea. What I can discuss is the joys and struggles of homeschooling (unpopular opinion: the joys far surpass the struggles), trying to keep our minimalism dream alive with a family of 5, and the opportunity and what I consider a privilege to stay home with my 3 children and work-from-home husband.
So without further ado,
I’m Ally. 30 years old. Mother of 3. Wife. Stay-at-home mom. Homeschool mom. Lover of sunshine, sunflowers, and laughter. Sarcastic to a fault. Family first. Honesty above and beyond. Working on myself everyday. Lifetime learner. Practicing critical thinker. Believer in good. Last but not least, lover of wine and coffee.
As stated above, I don’t know what I’m doing here. I think I’m looking to maybe start a community of people who can maturely discuss different opinions and viewpoints, experiences and ideas without being mean or trying to assert things on others. Maybe even having a community of people who can help others see the light in an otherwise dark situation.
Let’s see where this adventure takes us…
