"Time Flies", We Say
I’ve been trying to reach out to friends more often. Always via text because when you have three littles, phone calls are only made when necessary. We always jump right into discussing our children and how big they’ve gotten since we last shared photos. “Time flies” we say! And it’s true. When you have children, time changes. Time really does fly by. One day they’re tiny little babies with that cuddly newborn smell and the next day they’re reading to you.
I’m often guilty of looking at my kids and thinking, “where did my sweet baby go?” And the answer is, they’re still here. Children grow so fast, changing day by day. But the truth is, they’re still and always will be your little baby. When you look in their eyes, you can see it. The sweet, chunky, little baby face that looked up at you and held your gaze from your arms.
To be fair, no one talks about how wonderful the toddler and young child age really is. When your kids start to develop and pursue their own interests, when they can help you with projects, when they can use the bathroom on their own. Okay, that last one is *kind of* a joke — but you get the point.
Being able to include your children in tasks or fun activities is really a game changer. You can be productive while also teaching and spending time with your kids. They don’t even know the difference. They typically just want to be included and want to be next to you. Create new ways to allow your child to be involved and you’ll both be better for it.
“Time flies”, we say…so better make the most of it.
