Hey Guys!
Happy Monday! Lots going on here this last week. All three kids had a pretty wicked cold which resulted in very little sleep for us as a fam. Man, 5 cranky people? No thank you! Thankfully last night we all were able to sleep through the entire night and we woke up feeling pretty refreshed although the boys are still congested and coughing. Moving on though!
We’ve been hopefully planning some big life changes and when they are finalized, I can’t wait to share them with you guys! We are so so very excited but have a few more formalities to take care of before it’s official! So stay tuned!
Anyone else feeling completely overwhelmed by all the craziness that’s happening in the United States? It’s not a joke, but it often feels like one. Now I don’t normally get political and still am choosing not to, but there is something to be said as someone who struggles with worrying about the future literally ALL of the time. I often fall down these thought rabbit holes and end up picturing my family in some sort of dystopian future which, honestly, doesn't seem so far-fetched. Many people may not see it this way, but the future of the United States to me is very concerning. It seems like there is more and more control and less and less regard for the people. Banks failing, quality of food, health care, land quality, air quality, etc. I could go on and on.
I’m *very slowly* learning to focus on the things I can control and the things that are personally important to me. Keeping my family fed with nourishing food so they are always at their best and healthiest. Teaching the kids the importance of exercise and good sleep – which should be at the forefront of everyone's lives but sadly is almost never promoted by anyone including doctors. I’m learning how to redirect my energy to daily tasks instead of continuing to think of things that make me extremely anxious. That anxious energy needs to be used and will only be used for “evil” if I don’t get off my butt and channel it elsewhere.
While it’s important to stay up to date on what is happening around us, it’s also important to learn how to mentally manage all of the information and news being thrown at you. With social media and the internet, information, true or not, spreads so quickly. It can be impossible to pull yourself out of some of these holes and they literally can consume you. Some tips that I’m still working on but are helping me so far are:
1- Limit your time on social media or reading the news.
2- Put your values at the top of your daily routine and make sure the life you’re living is guiding you to the life you want to live.
3- Find things that make you happy and work them into your routine. Reading, meditating, exercising, anything. Anything at all that may spark some creativity or help center you on a daily basis.
4- Set a bedtime for yourself and follow it! Going to bed early (around 9pm) has helped not only my anxiety but also my daily energy and improved my mood.
Like I said, it’s important to stay up to date on what’s going on but you don’t need to be completely engulfed in the news all day everyday. Focus on taking care of your mental health and taking control of the things you have control over that will help you live a happier life. No one is going to help you on this journey the way that you can help yourself. Take a step back, take a breath, and reevaluate what’s important.
Keep waking up

I loved this article so much—probably mostly cuz I’m working on letting go & not worrying these days too 😍 Glad we’re in the same boat 😉
